             ”I don’t like it, George.”

             ”The pie?”

             ”No.”  Peter tightened his jaw and leaned across the table.  ”I mean this whole bloody thing!”

             Raising an eyebrow mildly, George watched the younger man carefully, waiting for him to continue, but was interrupted by Molly’s re-entrance into the room.  ”I’m going to catch a cab home.”  She glanced at the pie on the table and then at Peter.  ”Same time tomorrow then?”

             Peter nodded hastily, then added: “Are you sure you don’t want to wait and let me drive you home?”

             Molly laughed.  ”I’ll be fine, Peter.  We’ll try something a bit more tricky tomorrow, see how you do.”

             Flushing scarlet, Peter nodded and mumbled something about showing her  out before following her to the door, where George heard them speaking in hushed voices, followed by Molly’s laughter and the door closing.  When Peter returned, still red in the face, he was greeted only by George’s raised eyebrows.

             ”Molly’s giving me cooking lessons,” he finally admitted, and when George glanced from his face to the pie, he added sheepishly, “We were trying baking today.”

             There was a long pause, and then, cleaning his glasses on the end of his tie, George asked.  ”Now what is it about this that you’re so anxious about, Peter?”
